From Digital Precision to Metallic Craft: Engineering the "Nested Geometric" Sculpture

Today’s case study focuses on the Nested Geometric Ornament —a piece that embodies structural elegance through interlocking layers.  The design features a rectangular base supporting two diagonal struts, which in turn hold a mesmerizing 3D frame composed of three nested squares of varying sizes.  This unit stands 30cm (L) x 11cm (W) x 31cm (H) and is crafted entirely from 8mm diameter metal tubing . Figure 1: The Completed Interlocking Geometric Sculpture in Gold Finish Compared to our previous Cube Frame and Metal Sphere projects, this manufacturing process is more streamlined for three key reasons: Unlike the cramped interiors of small cube frames , the joints here are easily accessible for precision grinding . It eliminates the need for overly complex auxiliary jigs. The primary engineering focus is achieving a perfect center of gravity for stable tabletop display. I.
